Tracy Isabel Borres-Ateneo Immersion Scandal

This Tracy Borres is a student of the Ateneo de Manila University, one of the premier CATHOLIC universities here in the Philippines where one of their aims is to teach their students social awareness, responsibility and empathy for the not so fortunate among other things.

She wrote a blog about her her immersion in an Aeta community and apparently this girl has been so pampered and protected all her life that this experience 'horrified', 'shocked' and 'scandalized' her high snootiness that she vowed to 'never doing it again'. She was so horrified by the lack of plumbing IN THE MOUNTAINS, little Aeta children who had snot on their noses and running around half naked (she did not want these children touching her), no electricity, and she did not eat at all during the immersion. And to top it all off, she took a bath and scrubbed herself well after 'this' experience.

While my friend read this to me, we alternated between guffawing and being incredulous about how she can be sooooooo SHALLOW about things outside her Starbucks sipping and Mango fashion world.

Makes me think what is worse, poverty of the spirit or poverty of material things...

Girl, don't flaunt your ignorance of the real world by posting things like this in the net.
GROW UP.
